Ludogorets defeated Septemvri 2–0 in Sofia. The scorers for the visitors were Dinis Almeida and the usual suspect – Ivaylo Chochev. The match was the debut of the new coach of the champions – the Norwegian Per-Mathias Hogmo.
In the 14th minute, Petar Stanich broke down the right flank and crossed into the Septemvri penalty area, where the hosts failed to react with enough concentration. The ball reached Erick Bile, who was in a very favorable position and shot powerfully, but the ball struck the crossbar and then bounced in front of the goal line.
The champions took the lead in the 25th minute. After an excellent corner kick by Petar Stanich, Dinis Almeida took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home goalkeeper Yanko Georgiev and defender Viktor Ochai, and headed the ball into the net to open the scoring.
In the 67th minute, Caio Vidal made a run down the right wing and crossed into the Septemvri penalty area, where Robin Schouten missed the ball and it fell to the feet of Ivaylo Chochev, who did not fail to send it for the second time into Yanko Georgiev’s goal – 2–0 for the “Eagles.”
Until the end of the match the hosts pressed in search of a goal but never managed to score. The champions, on the other hand, could have added another goal, but Caio Vidal and Aguibou Camara missed their chances. On Thursday, Ludogorets switch to “Europa League mode,” as they host the Spanish side Celta Vigo in Razgrad.
