He won the prize despite the heavy competition. The rating was founded by the Bulgarian Players Association in cooperation with InStat – one of the biggest football statistics and analysis companies.
There were only three points of difference between the top three players in the rating. The player with the highest InStat Index in the First professional football league is the winner. It is determined via a special equation based on the player’s performance – goals, accuracy, and other factors. The level of the opponent in every game is also important.
Marcelinho’s InStat Index was 297. Jakub Swierczok, another Ludogorets player, is second overall with 296 points. Nikolau Bodurov from CSKA-Sofia is third with 294 points.
Marcelinho wins the prize for the second time. His first win was last September. The Brazilian is now equal with the star of Botev (Plovdiv) Todor Nedelev who won in December and January. Kiril Despodov won in August, Stanislav Kostov in October, Cicinho in November and Sou won in March.
