PFC Ludogorets has signed Egyptian international Hossam Abdelmaguid. The central defender, who captains one of Africa's most decorated clubs, Zamalek, will continue his career with the 14-time Bulgarian champions.
On Saturday, Ludogorets and Egyptian champions Zamalek finalized the player's transfer, and Hossam Abdelmaguid successfully passed his medical examinations and fitness tests.
The 25-year-old defender arrives in Razgrad following an impressive performance at both club and international levels. Abdelmaguid was part of Egypt's squad at the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, where he made his mark by scoring the winning penalty against Australia in the Round of 32, securing the "Pharaohs" a spot in the Round of 16. Abdelmaguid played 53 minutes in that match and also featured in Egypt's 3-1 group-stage victory over New Zealand.
Due to his participation in the World Cup, Hossam Abdelmaguid is currently on a well-deserved break. He will join Ludogorets' training camp at the end of the month. Until then, the club will finalize all necessary administrative and documentary procedures related to the player's registration.
In addition to wearing the captain's armband for Zamalek, Abdelmaguid is among the leaders of the Egypt national team. With his experience, physical presence, and leadership qualities, he is expected to bring even more stability and class to the Ludogorets defense.
Abdelmaguid is Ludogorets' second new signing this summer. In early July, the "Eagles" acquired youth international Mihail Polendakov from Sheffield United.
PFC Ludogorets wishes Hossam Abdelmaguid good health and plenty of success in the Ludogorets jersey!
