For a second year in a row Aurubis Bulgaria continues to support the development of sport talents from the Youth Academy of one of the most successful Bulgarian football clubs “Ludogorets”. The company is known with its policy to support “green” sports as cycling, swimming, volley-ball, athletics, karate and football on regional and national level.

Our long-term plan is to support sports through implementation of different initiatives. We believe that the Youth Academy is very successful project and for us is an exceptional pride to support the future talents of a team, who has achieved remarkable success with the participation in the highest class tour-nament of the old continent“, said Tim Kurth, Executive Director of Aurubis Bulgaria.

Currently the Youth Academy is preparing 180 sport talents between ages 14 to 17. Last year in line with the partnership for a first time a football cast-ing for talents was organized in Srednogorie region.

Aurubis Bulgaria company profile

The plant was built in 1958 and main activity is processing of copper concentrates for the production of copper anodes and cathodes, as well as by-products such as sulphuric acid and fayalite.It consists of four main production units: Smelter, Refinery, Acid plant and Flotation plant. In April 2009 the official approval of the new name of the company “Aurubis” was received, after a year earlier the group Cumerio was acquired by Norddeutsche Affinerie AG (NA), after the approval of the European Commission at the beginning of the year.

Today the company employs 820 people who in 2014 produced 350 000 t. anode copper, 233 000 t. cathode copper and 1 200 000 t. sulphuric acid. The company realizes 8% of the country's exports to different markets including Turkey, Belgium, China, Singapore; the import is mainly from China, the Balkans and the Middle East.

Over the past ten years to modernize production and eco-efficiency improvements were invested EUR 550 million for which we receive a number of recognitions, including "Investor in Environmental Protection" (2014, Bulgarian Investment Agency).

As a large corporate donor annually we realize sponsorships and donations for projects in education, development of young talented children, sport, culture, disabled people, healthcare in Srednogorie region and at a country level.
